The Evanston Ecology Center is a resource that almost any other environmentally oriented city would love to have. It is located in a wonderful natural setting within the Ladd Arboretum just a few steps from the North Shore Channel.
As someone who has been volunteering with the EEA, I really enjoy meeting with other EEA members at the Ecology Center. The Center staff, who are always working hard on a multitude of projects, always have time to say hello, and the Center, with its wood and stone interior, is a very comfortable place to meet on green issues.
The Center is the focal point for environmental activity in Evanston. Environmental groups meet there. Green classes, camps, and activities are offered by the staff at the Center. And it is the host location for the rapidly growing annual Evanston Green Living festival that has promoted green living practices since 2007.
The Evanston Ecology Center is a jewel of a community resource. Residents are extremely fortunate to have this unique facility. All of us who are aligned with the Center through work or as volunteers need to make sure that Evanston residents know what a great facility it is, and encourage them to suppport it, use it, and participate in its programs and events.

Please keep the Evanston Ecology Center open! It is a unique and wonderful resource. My children have enjoyed many activities there. We are always impressed by the dedication of the staff and the quality of the programs.

I would be much more in favor of maintaining the Ecology Center, a unique institution in the community, much more so than the satellite library locations. I am fully aware of the budgetary shortfalls and am willing to pay much more to continue to attend the programs the Ecology Center offers.

I remember 16 years ago when my son first went to Wildflower camp at the Eco Center. It was the best thing. We still use the Eco Center. Last summer my son loved canoeing on the canal. This center provides educational environmental enrichment.

Please leave the Ecology Center open! We have been there numerous times for family events and would be dissappointed to see it closed. My sister has been an employee there in the past summers with the children’s programs and loved it. The families in the community would definitely agree that is a place of education and fond memories.
